I have always been a big fan of trains. There is really something magical about stepping onto a train, and it just takes you to where you want to go. At one time, the train was the main means of transporting and goods across America (and other parts of the world), so much so that entire cities were built. Atlanta was one of those cities. In fact, Atlanta’s rich history with railroads is just one fascinating aspect of the city’s development. As you step into the Atlanta History Center, you are immediately immersed in the narrative of how these railroads shaped the crossroads of the city, and helped shape its foundation. As one of my favorite history museums, this remarkable institution serves as a vibrant reflection of the city’s historical narrative, showcasing an extensive collection of artifacts, photographs, and exhibits that chronicle significant events and figures that have shaped the region. When you walk into the center, you are greeted by its beautiful gardens, serene setting and stunning architecture of the center, which harmoniously blends modern design with traditional Southern elements.
